ITEMS
TO SELL AT THE FAIR.....
Anyone that
has items to sell at the fair please let
either Margaret Shattles, Nancy Donegan or
Joanna Marren know so that we know what we
will have to do with the interior of the
cabin. There will be 20% that will be
deducted from items. 15% will go to
the fair & 5% to the guild. Fall and
Christmas items might be good sellers as
well as any type items you sell at the
boutique at our quilt show. Let's WOW the
"fairgoers" with our quilted items!!!
METHODIST CHURCH REQUEST
MMQG Members,
I have been asked by the officials
of the Methodist Church to remind you
that guild members should not arrive at
the church before 12:30. This arrival
time is only for guild members who need
to be there to set up the facility for
our meeting. Other members should
begin arriving at 1:00. These
requests are based on their concern for
the safety of their students who are
being picked up by their parents until
about 12:30. I know each of you
can understand their concern for the
safety of the children. We are their
guests so we need to abide by this
request.
Thank you for your cooperation in timing
your arrival for 1:00.
Your quilting sister,
Bev

NEW COMFORT COMMITTEE
Purpose of the Comfort Committee
Audrey Hiers, Chair
The
purpose of the Comfort Committee is to
inform members of the Misty Mountain
Quilting Guild, when a Guild member is in
special need of our love, support, caring,
friendship and prayers due to a serious
and/or life threatening issue. This will be
done through making a lap size quilt and/or
a tote to include personal items and cards.
All members of the Misty Mountain Quilting
Guild will be able to become involved in
this endeavor as needed.
It was decided that having two quilts made
and ready would be done. Block sizes will be
9” and for now, the first quilt will be
block of choice. The second quilt will be a
fence rail. Colors used should be bright
and/or cheery pastels. Although quilted when
the time comes to give the quilt, it will be
available for members to tie, each tie
representing a prayer, and an appropriate
label will be on the back. Members who do
not choose to make blocks may donate
batting, backing, and thread (type, and
brands will be specified). Our long arm
specialists have already volunteered to do
the quilting.
Members will be asked to sew the quilt
blocks together, as needed, during the
meeting of the Strippers.
In addition to the above, the committee will
be responsible for sending an appropriate
card to a member(s) in need.

Georgia Quilt Show 2010
October 14, 15 & 16, 2010
Gwinnett Center – Duluth, GA
“Seeking Color Harmony” is a contest designed to
let you discover your inner quilter. Be it
traditional or contemporary, folk or art quilt –
capture whatever motivates you to quilt and
create a piece to be entered into one of three
categories. “Seeking Color Harmony” is a juried
show and will be the feature Gallery display at
Georgia Quilt Show 2010. The
quilts then become a focal point of Original
Sewing & Quilt Expo Fall 2010 events and will
travel to Kansas City, MO and Minneapolis, MN,
finishing their trek in Chicago, IL at Original
Sewing & Quilt Expo’s newest location, the
Schaumburg Convention Center. Judging will occur
at Georgia Quilt Show 2010 where NQA certified
judges will award a $1,000 Prize for Best of
Show. An additional $4,500 will be distributed
for First, Second and Third place awards in each
of three categories: Bed Quilt, Large Wall Quilt
and Small Wall Quilt. Ribbons for Honorable
Mention and Judges’ Choice will round out the
recognitions.

Thoughts:
Old quilters never die, they just go
batts.
Old quilters never die, they just go to
pieces.
Quilt 'til you wilt!
Quilters never cut corners.
